The Stump
I used to have two feet. Now I have one over-used left foot and a bloody stump. What WAS I thinking? A matched set? This is whacked, I'm never doin' this again. Arthritis is okay, I can live with that. Throbbing joints are preferable to having a sawed off, bloody pulsating stump. I have a love/hate relationship with Percocet (aka Vicodan aka codeine aka an opiate in tablet form). On one hand, I'm curled up in fetal position No.4 w/o it but, on the other, it makes my foot feel less like someone took a buzzsaw and cut between my 1st and 2nd toe all the way up the ankle (basically, what they did). The downside to Percocet is I can't think, reading is waaay too much work and the remote controls for the TV are now incredibly complicated. -- Heavily Sedated P.S. On a higher note, I had the BEST anesthesiologist and anesthetist yesterday. Best I've ever had. They were nice, concerned and even polite. I slept all the way thru the surgery and was even having a nice dream ... Except somebody kept pulling on my right foot.
